If you are of a certain age - you may remember the electric mower wars on TV and the media. It was quite brutal at the time - but the electric lawnmower market was big business. Everyone had a hover mower at one point pioneered by Flymo they really took the UKs obsessive gardening scene by storm - although I'm not quite sure why - they were awful. I'm afraid I still remember the "it's a lot less bover than a hover' catch phrase that was part of those advertising wars - mainly I think because it was true. The hover mowers were a reaction against huge heavy manual and petrol mowers - these invariably gave a cracking finish to your lawn but were a nightmare to use - the idea of a mower gliding across your lawn was wonderful - virtually no effort involved.
Unfortunately in my experience although no effort was involved - the result was pretty hopeless - and much effort was involved after raking up the cuttings. Then they put grass boxes on the hovers - but then they got heavier and didn't hover as well - they still didn't cut the grass properly (probably because they were hovering two inches above the lawn!)
Electric Knife
Electric Lawnmowers are much better these days - the best selling lawnmowers in the UK are the Bosch Rotary range. Bosh have a strong reputation in the power tool arena and have been in business for many years - they have produced in the Rotak range - a rare exception in this world - a tool that does a job efficiently and effectively.
I have used nearly all the Bosch Rotak range and they are in my opinion exceptional - they do strike you as being a little flimsy initially but for an electric lawnmower - when you try one it they are excellent. My first experience of the Bosch Rotak range was the Bosch Rotak 40 and if you have an average sized lawn this is teh perfect lawnmower - very reasonably priced it cuts any length of grass easily (even when damp), it's very light and can be picked up with one hand.
But best of all it cuts the lawn well - it does feel like vacuuming the lawn - it's so easy and the finish is excellent. It's a very good buy and hopefully will last me many a year - an electric lawnmower seems to be the best value at the moment.

Wusthof Precision Edge 4 Stage Knife Sharpener Overview
Sharpen both your Standard knives and your Asian style knives with the Wusthof 4 stage knife sharpener. The standard sharpener uses carbide blades set at 28 degrees or 14 degrees per side to sharpener your standard kitchen knives. Stage 2 of the standard side uses ceramic rods to hone a fine edge on your blade. Simply slide the cover over to Asian knives to sharpen your Asian knives to a 20 degree angle or 10 degrees per side. The V-shaped cutting head with two crossed carbide blades puts a quick edge on knives. Stage 2 uses ceramic rods to hone the fine edge of your Santoku or Nakiri knives. Simply place the gadget on a flat work surface and hold the E-Z grip handle with one hand and the knife handle with the other. Insert the knife blade fully into the slot at a 90-degree angle to the sharpener and pull down and back three or four times to sharpen. After setting the knife's edge with the carbide side, use the unit's ceramic side to nicely finish the edge.
